MAKEUP IS SO BROAD IN RANGE OF PRICES, TYPES, AND COLORS. THEREFORE, IN THE EYES OF A BEGINNER, IT COULD BE VERY INTIMIDATING AND POSSIBLY CONFUSING. SO HERES A GUIDE ON BASIC TYPES, COLORS, AND PRICES OF MAKEUP.
- Primer- The base below all of you makeup. Primer is clear, white, green, or tinted moisturizing base to fill in your pores and create a smooth platform for your makeup to sit on. This isn't a necessary component for a beginner, but it would be helpful with increasing the lasting power of your makeup.
- Foundation- Cancels discoloration and marks that you want to hide on your face. Foundation can be full coverage, where it is highly pigmented and covers all skin on your face, OR, Light coverage doesn't cover everything and you can see a lot of your natural skin through it, or somewhere in the middle. Foundation can also be found in several forms such as liquid, cream, and powder. For beginners who have never had foundation before, go to a makeup counter to find you shade and then decide how much coverage you need and your skin type especially to find the right foundation for you! This is a very important part of your makeup which should be carefully chosen.
- Eye Shadow- Any color that you choose. The eyeshadow can be one color all over your eyelid, or if you choose multiple colors, they have specific placement on your eyelid. You have a lid color, outer corner color (darker), and maybe a contour for your crease. Eyeshadow can be sold in singles, or in palettes which come in all different sizes. Starting with eyeshadow you can use any color(s) you want! But certain colors look better on certain eye colors. This will be the part of your makeup that you can match with an outfit or make your makeup look pop!
- Mascara- To enhance your eyelashes. This is a very basic makeup essential that also ranges in price very dramatically from $1 to $50+. Mascara is defiantly recommended for beginners in makeup. You can get mascara in black or brown. Another product that is optional but help with enhancing your eyelashes and making them look fuller is eyeliner.
- Blush- To add glow to your cheeks. Ranging from light to dark and pink to brown. blush goes on your upper cheeks or the apple of your cheek, so you don't look all one color with your foundation on. Brush ranges in price from $1 to $45.
- Lips- Lip stick, lip gloss, lip stain, lip tint, etc. There are so many choices for lip colors and types. So choose whatever you think will look best on you too give your lips some sparkle.
Remember that you do not need to wear all of these, you can just pick and choose to create your own makeup style. Experiment with colors and types and remember to get tools and brushes to apply your makeup! Always start with clean hands and a clean face!
